Before anything else, get yourself a paid AI assistant. The free tiers are limited — a $20/month subscription to Claude Pro or ChatGPT Plus unlocks the full power of AI and will be your co-pilot through every step of this guide. Think of it as hiring a brilliant intern for less than a dollar a day.
- Chose an AI platform (Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini)
- Signed up for the paid plan ($20/month)
- Sent my first test message to make sure it's working
Open your AI assistant and have a real conversation about your skills, passions, and what problems you can solve. Don't filter yourself — brainstorm out loud and ask the AI to push back and narrow it to one clear concept.
You don't need a 40-page document. You need one page: what do you sell, who buys it, how do you reach them, and what do you charge? An AI can help you draft this in about 20 minutes.
Your brand is your reputation made visible. You need a business name, a logo, and a consistent look. AI tools can generate name ideas and logo concepts in minutes — pick something clean, memorable, and available as a domain.
In Florida, you can register an LLC online in about 10 minutes through Sunbiz.org. It costs ~$125. Pick your business name, choose a registered agent (can be yourself), and submit. You'll get your Articles of Organization same day.
- Filed LLC on Sunbiz (or your state's equivalent)
- Received Articles of Organization
- Applied for EIN on irs.gov
- Saved all confirmation documents
Separate your business money from personal money from day one. Mercury lets you open a free business checking account and get a debit card in minutes — all online, no branch visit needed. You can also get a business credit card to start building business credit.
- Opened business checking account
- Received debit card / virtual card
- Applied for business credit card
- Set up accounting/bookkeeping (Wave, QuickBooks, or Mercury built-in)
Claim your business name on every major platform — even if you don't plan to use them all right away. Then set up at minimum: a Google Business Profile, a LinkedIn page, and one platform where your customers spend time (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X).
- Claimed business name on major platforms
- Set up Google Business Profile
- Created LinkedIn business page
- Set up primary social channel (IG, TikTok, FB, or X)
- Drafted first 5–10 posts with AI
You've done the work. Now tell everyone. Write a launch post, send it to your network, and go get your first customer. Don't wait until everything is "perfect" — done beats perfect every single time. You can refine as you go.
- Published launch post on LinkedIn / social
- Sent personal messages to 10 people in my network
- Set up a way to accept payments (Stripe, Venmo Business, etc.)
- Set up a scheduling link (Calendly, Cal.com)
